The island’s prosperity and high quality of life have lead to the development of a two tier housing system whereby locally qualified persons may occupy ‘Local Market’ accommodation and non qualified and new residents occupy the ‘Open Market’. There are approximately 10% of the 1,700 dwelling freely available for purchase and occupation on the Open Market register. Prices of Open Market properties are higher due to supply and demand.
